In a shocking incident in Behala, South 24 Parganas near Kolkata, a man identified as Karthik Das (41) called the police control room around 1 am on Thursday, admitting to the murder of his wife, Pemana Das (28). Karthik confessed to strangling his wife to death in front of their children. However, their two children, aged 12 and 5, were not found at the scene.

Karthik and Pemana had a tumultuous relationship marked by frequent quarrels, exacerbated by suspicions of adultery on Karthik's part. The incident unfolded at their rented accommodation on Raja Ramohan Road in Behala. Upon police arrival, Karthik was found sitting beside his wife's body, and he was promptly arrested. Preliminary investigations suggest that Pemana was suffocated to death, and efforts are ongoing to locate the missing children.
